The recent developments of the hypnosis techniques are due to researches made by Milton Erickson. This world-leading psychiatrist and psychologist believed that the unconscious mind is always listening; whether a person is in a trance or not, and suggestions with hypnotic influence can be made, as long as those suggestions resonate with the unconscious level of the mind.
His ideas have been developed by other researchers. The most famous school is of course, NLP. The co-founders of this school were Richard Bandler and John Grinder, but they split up eventually in late ’70, which caused the birth of many schools of thought on hypnosis.
