Doctor Discovers a New Kind Of Stress Management and Performance Enhancement Tool

Doctor Discovers a New Kind Of Stress Management and Performance Enhancement Tool

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 17, 2007

Many people who suffer from stress and who want to perform better can accomplish this by making music a part of their daily regime. Jay P. Granat, Ph.D., has found that many of his patients and many top athletes respond better to Motown tunes than they do to new age tunes.

“Some patients get more stress relief with upbeat, energizing Motown tunes than they get with New Age melodies that have traditionally been used by many therapists in the past. Motown brings back fond memories to many middle aged patients. It gets them laughing, smiling and dancing. These are all great stress management techniques and this form of music seems to help patients to make contact with upbeat, optimistic and playful thoughts and feelings that can really change the way we feel, behave and perform,” according to Dr. Jay Granat.

“Additionally, many athletes use music to get their minds into the right gear prior to competing in their sports. A number of the athletes I have coached love Motown tunes too,” says Granat who is himself a big fan of The Four Tops, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and The Supremes.

Jay P. Granat, Ph.D. has coached top performers from many different worlds for more than twenty years. He has presented at Paine Webber,

MFS, Hyatt, Schering-Plough, Easter Woman’s Golf Association, Alpine Country Club, Emerson Country Club, CBS Radio, Optimum On Line, Fairleigh Dickinson University, The Sports Counseling Conference At Springfield College, The Greenwich School Of Continuing Education, Gilda’s Club, The State Bar Of New Jersey and The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.

Dr. Granat who has been featured in The Sunday New York Times, Good Morning America, Tennis Magazine, The International Herald Tribune, The Newark Star Ledger, Men’s Health Magazine, SFO Magazine, The BBC, ESPN has been named one of the country’s top ten mental gurus by Golf Digest. Granat who writes a weekly column for three newspapers is also the author of How To Get In The Zone And Stay In The Zone With Sport Psychology and Self-Hypnosis, Twenty One Creative Ways To Conquer Stress and How To Lower Your Golf Score With Sport Psychology and Self-Hypnosis.

The founder of http://www.StayInTheZone.com, Dr. Granat has counseled world class athletes, Olympic athletes, weekend warriors and promising young athletes from virtually every sport. He teaches the same mental skills used by top athletes to top performers in many different industries and companies.

His most popular seminar topics include: How To Increase Your Sales And Lower Your Golf Score, How To Sell In The Zone, 21 Creative Ways To Conquer Stress.

Seven Reasons Why Rafael Nadal Won Wimbledon Doctor, Author Shares Insights On Tennis Psychology

Seven Reasons Why Rafael Nadal Won Wimbledon Doctor, Author Shares Insights On Tennis Psychology

River Edge, NJ (PRWEB) July 9, 2008

According to Jay P. Granat, Ph.D., a Psychotherapist and Founder of ww.StayInTheZone.com and author of numerous books and programs for topathletes, Rafael Nadal won this super match for several reasons. Dr. Granat, who wrote Zone Tennis, How To Get Into The Zone With Sport Psychology And Self-Hypnosis and How To Get Into The Zone In Just One Minute, feels that Nadal

was the victor for the following reasons:

“Nadal had great momentum and confidence after his dominating victory over Federer at the French Open. Momentum and confidence go together in sports.

Nadal is physically stronger than is Federer. He hits the tennis ball harder andhe generates more racket speed than does Federer. This is a significant advantage.

Nadal appears to be quicker than Federer. This is another major edge for Nadal.

Roger Federer has been the number one tennis player for over three hundred weeks. He is a fantastic player, but he is not a machine. It is very difficult to be on top of your tennis game week in and week out when you are playing the world’s finest players all the time. I do not believe he is finished or burnt out. Rather, I think he has had a fantastic run and he he has now encountered another super player.

Nadal appears to be having a great deal of fun on the court. An athlete who is enjoying himself is apt to perform well. Federer, who is always the gentleman, appears to be a bit burdened by the pressure to surpass Pete Sampras and to maintain his number one ranking. By the way, I believe he will win several more grand slam titles titles before he retires from the game.

The enthusiasm among Nadal’s family and supporters is electrifying. It seems that Nadal is is quite inspired by his coach, uncle Tony, and by his family and friends. Their high level of energy and demonstrative support are contributing to his success in the majors right now.

Federer may have been a bit unsettled after his one sided loss in Paris. It is sometimes not easy for an athlete who strives for excellence to be resilient after a very poor performance.

Now, I am not saying that Federer will never beat Nadal again. I believe he will have some victories over his prime rival in the sport.

Moreover, this rivalry will be great for the sport and great for tennis fansand sports fans,” says Dr. Granat, the mental coach to top athletes from many sports including tennis.
