About Hypnotism

Hypnotism is a safe and effective intervention for a variety of motivational, self-improvement and goal setting situations. It is natural and free of side effects, and when performed by a competent certified practitioner the results are long lasting and often permanent.

Guidelines of Practice

The National Guild of Hypnotists has ethical guidelines, to which all members must adhere and hold to the ideal that hypnotism should be practiced in a free and open manner in line with all national and regional requirements. NGH Hypnotists are not practicing medical or mental health doctors (unless additional credentials are held by the member hypnotist). Hypnotists do not diagnose disease, but can help as an adjunct to conventional medical or mental health interventions. They have our own unique non-diagnostic language, which they use with clients in order to help them achieve their desired changes.

About Dr. Georgina Cannon

Once a corporate leader and strategic planner for blue chip corporations, Dr. Georgina Cannon, left her $ 300,000.00 a year corporate career 10 years ago to start a hypnotism clinic and school. Georgina Cannon is a Doctor of Metaphysical Counselling, NLP Master, Timeline practitioner, and accredited Instructor for the National Guild of Hypnotists, the Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association and the International Board of Regression Therapies and is on the Advisory Board of the National Guild of Hypnotists.

World Hypnotism Day Celebrates the Healing Benefits of Hypnosis

World Hypnotism Day Celebrates the Healing Benefits of Hypnosis

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 31, 2005

On January 4th, 2006 Certified Hypnosis Practitioners from all over the world will join to together for World Hypnotism Day, a special day dedicated to educating the public, the media and their health care communities about the many benefits of working with a Certified Hypnosis Professional.

According to Michael Ellner, an internationally prominent Certified Hypnosis Practitioner and educator, “There is an urgent need for World Hypnotism Day because there are tens of millions of people who could be helped to feel better, heal faster and be more effective who are not utilizing this safe, effective and affordable approach to relieving both psychic and physical pain.”

There is considerable scientific evidence that hypnosis can help reduce, even eliminate pain. “With the recent spate of bad news about pain killers,” Ellner says, “one would think that hypnosis, acupuncture, chiropractic medicine, and other healing arts would take their rightful place in the anthology of pain treatment.”

According to the New York Times (12/28/04), “What we find are patients debating whether to continue their pain medications. …The degree of alarm and outrage is because something that’s supposed to make people safe is really putting them at risk.”

However, both the media and the medical establishment have perpetuated misconceptions about the practice and nature of hypnosis. As a result, many people believe that being hypnotized means losing control when, in fact, hypnosis is about helping people take control.

New Year’s Resolutions such as stopping smoking and managing weight, chronic problems like the pain of arthritis, or even pre-operative fears, can be effectively treated by self-hypnosis – with the guidance of a certified hypnosis professional.

One of Ellner’s major concerns is the damage being done by self-proclaimed “experts” – a subset of MDs and PhDs, who insist that some people just “can’t be hypnotized” – a notion which reflects the limitations of their own clinical inflexibility rather than the subject’s ability to be hypnotized.

These so-called “experts” advise the public to seek out only those hypnotherapists who are licensed health care providers such as themselves. Just as one wouldn’t expect an MD or PhD to be an expert plumber, by the same token there is no reason to believe that a licensed health care provider is an expert in hypnosis.

Ellner explains further that Certified Hypnosis professionals are not at odds with most licensed health care practitioners. “We only have a problem with that subset of MDs and PhDs who pass themselves off as experts in hypnosis and claim they are protecting the public,” he says, “when in actuality, they are standing in the way of Certified Hypnosis Professionals who simply want to take their rightful place in their health care communities. Podiatrists, optometrists, midwives, chiropractors and psychologists all suffered a similar backlash and operated within the same realm of “quackery” in the recent past.

Ellner maintains his private hypnosis practice in the prestigious Metropolitan Medical Healthcare and Wellness Center in NYC. He enjoys working as part of health care and wellness teams as well as a stand alone hypnosis practitioner. Ellner will be teaching advanced hypnosis classes in Mexico, Boston, Boerne (TX), Detroit, Greater LA and New York City throughout 2006.

World Hypnotism Day was conceived and sponsored by The National Guild of Hypnotists in association with The Academy of Professional Hypnosis, The Association to Advance Ethical Hypnosis, Die Freie Gesellschaft für Hypnose e.V. (Germany), The Hypnosis Educational Council International, The Hypnosis Information Network, The International Hypnological Association, The International Medical And Dental Hypnosis Association, The National Association of Certified Hypno Counselors, The National Association of Clergy Hypnotherapists, The National Federation of Hypnotists OPEIU AFL/CIO, The National Federation of Neuro Linguistic Psychology, The Ontario Association of Hypnotherapists (Canada) and The National Council for Hypnotherapy (England).

Ellner can speak extensively about how hypnosis can help people stay focused on improving their health, lives and careers. Michael Ellner is available for interview. For further information http://www.ellner.info.

Tina Loses 56lb in 7 Months, After 4 Sessions of Hypnosis

Tina Loses 56lb in 7 Months, After 4 Sessions of Hypnosis

Tina – 56lb lighter after hypnotherapy

(PRWEB) December 30, 2010

Tina attended four sessions with the UK’s most experienced weight loss hypnotherapist, Clare White and was amazed at how naturally and easily the weight fell away, without following any specific dieting or exercise regime. “From the first session with Clare my portion sizes were smaller and I just didn’t want the foods I used to crave. I used to drink so much sugary Coca Cola, but haven’t touched a drop of it since!”

Hypnotherapy is based on suggestion and clients feel deeply relaxed whilst their subconscious mind is listening to the positive suggestions put forward by the therapist. The client is free to accept or reject any suggestion and is always in control, accepting new beliefs and the ensuing behaviour through free choice.

Hypnotherapist Clare White, who practices on Harley Street, London (http://www.onharleystreet.co.uk) and in Leeds says, “Recent press coverage of hypnosis and weight loss has focussed on the “hypnotic gastric band”, but for Tina and the majority of women, the true solution to a weight problem is buried deep in the subconscious mind and neither hypnotic nor surgical gastric bands, nor dieting itself would abate their food cravings. The solution is unique for each person”.

Whilst New Year magazine covers compete with quick weight loss plans, Tina’s story promotes the idea that the smallest changes make the biggest difference. Tina has lost weight by eating smaller portions and listening to her body. Hypnosis has enabled her to get to the root of her unwanted eating habits and formulate her own plan of how to deal with it. You can hear her story, in her words at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlEXV_9xTE8

A survey by SPA Future Thinking recently dubbed British women as “the worst dieters in the world.” Tina agrees that dieting had become a very frustrating and depressing way of life before she discovered the power of her own subconscious mind. She is very confident she can keep the weight off just as naturally as she shed it in the first place. “I’m so looking forward to 2011, knowing that from January to December, I can cope with birthdays, holidays, stress and boredom, feeling in control of my eating and food choices – being happy with the way I look and feel, and confident that I will stay that way”.

For more information and a fascinating interview call Clare White on 07723 012987 or visit http://onharleystreet.co.uk/meet-the-therapists/clare-white/

Behaviorist Blows the Hocus Pocus Out of Hypnosis with “Dream Psycles”

Behaviorist Blows the Hocus Pocus Out of Hypnosis with “Dream Psycles”

Diamond Bar, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2006

Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, artist/author and behavior expert Carl Allen Schoner has published his 5th book. In “Dream Psycles – A New Awakening in Hypnosis,” Schoner promises to teach readers how to accomplish spectacular goals in life by first “waking up!” and taking control of subconscious patterns of thinking and behavior that have held them back in the past.

Schoner promises to show readers how to harness the power within themselves to make even their wildest dreams come true. He stresses that we are all essentially “hypnotized” all of the time, and he calls this hypnotic state our “Dreamscape.” He refers to all of the thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that constitute this dreamscape as “Dream Psycles,” and these psycles may play either positive or negative roles in our lives. His thesis is that dream psycles not only influence our thoughts, emotions, and behavior, but in most cases they actually determine how much success a person will achieve in life. Schoner argues quite eloquently that the only way to make big changes in one’s life is to wake up and reshape one’s own dreamscape.

Most people think hypnosis works through the induction of a kind of sleep state, a state in which suggestions are readily accepted and acted upon by the individual. Schoner’s contention is that hypnosis instead works by awakening people from their sleep state, so they may consciously determine what their goals and dreams in life ought to be, rather than allowing subconscious ideas and emotions to dictate those decisions for them. By learning how to wake up and manipulate their dreamscapes, people develop the power to easily accomplish any goal they set for themselves.

In “Dream Psycles,” Schoner presents scores of simple techniques that anyone can use to “wake up” their dream psycles and reshape their dreamscape. The book provides some facinating insights into why people struggle with habits that have held them back in the past, when it is so easy to simply awaken and then walk away from these subconscious patterns of behavior towards a new, brighter future.

“Dream Psycles” is available for purchase at all of the big online booksellers. Interested readers can download a free preview of “Dream Psycles” from either of the two websites shown below:

Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 22, 2006 -–

With the University of Texas, Texas State, and St. Edwards University starting a new academic year, many students are beginning to feel the pressure. Some students have problems with procrastination, test anxiety, and fear of public speaking, but may not have an understanding of what they can do to improve their situation.

Although, in many cases, lack of preparation and procrastination are the primary reasons for poor student performance, some students may do well academically for the most part, only to have their overwhelming fear of public speaking jeopardize their grade point average.

Laura Ryan-Day, a local hypnotherapist for A New Day Hypnosis in Austin, offers guidance and assistance to local students who want to improve their grade point average, strengthen their self-confidence, gain more control of their grades, and develop the ability to speak confidently in front of groups.

Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can assist in changing habits and behaviors from the inside out. This process can offer a new kind of help to those of us who are ready for a change. Laura is currently accepting new clients who would like assistance in: Stopping Smoking, Weight Loss, Nail biting, Overcoming Phobias, Insomnia, Stress Relief, and Study Skills.

Lose Weight by Watching TV: New Weight Loss Hypnosis Video Declared “Powerful Stuff!” by Expert

Lose Weight by Watching TV: New Weight Loss Hypnosis Video Declared “Powerful Stuff!” by Expert

Margate, FL (PRWEB) September 3, 2006

Andersonstown, Belfast UK’s Personal development reviewer Michael McGrath says the new Neuro-VISION video weight loss hypnosis DVD is “powerful stuff”. McGrath tests personal development products and posts the reviews on his website, Personal-Development.info

Recently three of McGrath’s independent reviewers tried Neuro-VISION’s video weight loss hypnosis program. They all reported that their view of food and their eating habits changed dramatically after watching the video:

“Most of the images are designed to reprogram your eating habits and they do have a profound effect. I found myself pushing away a half finished dinner and refusing my favorite chocolate, cream-filled bun. This may not sound that impressive but for me it was a life-altering experience.”

McGrath also applauds Neuro-VISION founder Alan B. Densky for including self-esteem in the hypnosis programs. “Densky shows you how to… anchor an image of yourself as thin and healthy to your feelings of self-esteem. I cannot stress enough just how powerful this stuff really is!”

The Neuro-VISION hypnosis method is not a crash diet program but helps users change their attitude towards food through hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). The DVDs flash images into viewers’ minds and set up new unconscious associations that eliminate stress and oral cravings.

Viewers begin to treat food the same way naturally thin people do. They eat less and lose weight the healthy way without starving themselves or resorting to radical diets, but simply by watching the video.

“Even after the first session I could see the difference in my cravings and the way I viewed food,” McGrath wrote.

You can read his full review of the Neuro-VISION weight loss program here:

Leading Hypnotist Says Hypnosis Doesn’t Work

Leading Hypnotist Says Hypnosis Doesn’t Work

Lady Lake, FL (PRWEB) May 8, 2007

With national ‘No Tobacco Day’ and ‘No Diet Day’ this May designed to raise awareness of the dangers of tobacco use and the importance of body image, leading Hypnotherapist John Morgan (http://www.johnmorganhypnosis.com) says that many people will turn to hypnosis for solutions.

“People see some hapless soul on stage quacking like a duck or hear about a neighbor quitting a 3 pack a day habit after being hypnotized. They hear about great Aunt Ruth who lost 250 pounds as the result of attending a hypnotherapy session, but in reality, hypnotism doesn’t really even exist,” says Morgan.

Over a quarter of a million people who have attended his smoking cessation and weight loss sessions and tens of thousands who have purchased Morgan’s stop smoking DVD and weight loss DVD and CD have learned first hand that hypnosis doesn’t work. Yet, those same people lose weight and keep it off or stop smoking once and for all.

“The media has created the belief that a hypnotist can look into your eyes and make you do anything” Morgan says. “Wrong, I have control over nobody. If I did I would own a private island in the Caribbean.” The way it really works, he says, is that people actually hypnotize themselves. He just provides the setting and the instruction. “What people call ‘hypnosis’ is nothing more than being in a suggestible frame of mind. A skilled Hypnotherapist has only the power to suggest and to put people into a state of accelerated learning.”

Whether it’s in his clinical hypnotherapy session or using his powerful DVD and CD products, John Morgan says the key to permanent change through hypnosis is to grow out of the old way and grow into the new way. “To make permanent change happen you have to follow the program through to its conclusion. Those that do are successful. Those that don’t are less successful.”

“Self hypnosis is fun, safe and effective. It’s a natural state of mind where you momentarily escape from reality and make a journey to achieving your personal goals,” says Morgan.

About John Morgan: John Morgan is America’s best known Hypnotherapist and the author of popular self hypnosis DVD ‘Stop Smoking Forever” and “Lose Weight and Keep It Off.” Morgan says that every person can unlearn patterns of negative behavior through accelerated learning while in a susceptible frame of mind. For more information on hypnosis and hypnotherapy, visit http://www.johnmorganhypnosis.com.
