How Self-Hypnosis can Help Golfers Improve Their Game and Get in the Zone
How Self-Hypnosis can Help Golfers Improve Their Game and Get in the Zone
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) July 12, 2006
In 2002, GOLF Magazine reviewed 5 hypnosis CDs for golfers. “Own The Zone,” created by Clinical Hypnotherapist Jennifer Scott, received the highest rating. As a result, she was interviewed by Kelly Tilghman on The Golf Channel. Then Jennifer was asked to write articles on golf’s “mental game” by GOLF Magazine’s online website, Golfonline. Also online, she is a featured writer for The Aspiring Golfer. She also writes on golf for regional golf magazines like GOLF JOURNEYS in cooperation with the Philadelphia section of the PGA.
In the Spring of 2005, Jennifer’s chapter “The Case for Hypnosis” was published in the landmark book “The Secret of Golf.” Compiled by George Peper, 25-year editor of GOLF Magazine, it is an anthology of golf’s most significant instructional ideas over the past 100 years. Some of those other innovators included are Ben Hogan, Tommy Armour and Dave Pelz.
A member of the National Speakers Association, Jennifer has been giving educational seminars at golf resorts coast to coast as well as at the San Diego Golf Academy. In addition, she has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows.
Because she is a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Jennifer can help golfers uncover and resolve hidden Subconscious issues which interfere with their performance — particularly if they have the dreaded swing problem called “The Yips.” Very often these uncontrollable flinches cannot be resolved by more traditional professional coaching. For this and many other reasons, golfers from all over the country fly in to see her in Scottsdale, AZ.
Jennifer has been Certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist by the Atwood Institute for Research and Education, is a Registered Hypnotherapist with the American Board of Hypnotherapy, a Certified Stress Management Consultant with the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners and a Certified Medical Hypnotherapist with the Institute of Medical Hypnosis. She received her BA at Ottawa University.

Mental Training Expert, Dan Vitchoff Offers Insight into the Mental Preparations Required for the Pittsburgh Steelers to win their 7th Super Bowl
Mental Training Expert, Dan Vitchoff Offers Insight into the Mental Preparations Required for the Pittsburgh Steelers to win their 7th Super Bowl
Warrendale, PA (PRWEB) February 4, 2011
As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for their 7th Super Bowl victory, Pittsburgh Steelers fans will be analyzing the physical strengths of their favorite players such as Ben Roethlisberger’s ability to break out of the pocket and make big plays even under pressure or Mike Wallace’s speed that enables him to beat any teams’ secondary defense down the field. The first thing that comes to a fan’s mind about whether or not their team will win the Super Bowl is often about the physical element of the game when in reality the mental aspect of the game is just as important if not more important than a player’s physical strengths and weaknesses.
Dan Vitchoff, MS Ed., CHt., Pittsburgh’s leading expert on Mental Training, Performance Coaching, and Sports Psychology points out that sophisticated fitness training, better medical care, and a variety of other factors combine to minimize the physical differences in one sports team over another. “With as many well trained, talented athletes as are competing today in every sport, the difference maker is often which athlete or which team has the best mental training and preparation for competition. In the NFL, when a team loses it is often due to mental mistakes such as penalties and turn over’s.”
The term any given Sunday has been coined to acknowledge the fact that any team can beat any team on any given Sunday. Professional Athletes such as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers have to have the ability to make big plays even under intense pressure which is a result of intense mental training and preparations. Vitchoff, founder of the PA Hypnosis Center, and the mental coach who has helped Olympians, Walton Glenn Eller and Vincent Hancock win gold medals, says the Steelers’ mental preparation is critical to whether or not they will win their 7th Super Bowl. Vitchoff’s 33 MethodTM encompasses techniques such as Hypnosis, NLP, Visualization and Imagery which are all key components that Professional and Olympic Athletes use to prepare for competition. Vitchoff also uses these methods and techniques in his Pittsburgh Hypnosis Center to help his clients make positive and permanent changes in their lives such as losing weight, quitting smoking, reducing stress and improving their lives both personally and professionally.
“Confidence will need to be high in the huddle when the Pittsburgh Steelers Offense takes the field. These players have executed each and every play flawlessly a million times in their head. Visualizing yourself achieving success is key in Mental Training whether you are winning the Super Bowl or ending your smoking addiction.” Dan Vitchoff adds that another key to winning will come out of the fact that the Steelers have many veteran players on their team that have won the Super Bowl in the past and they can call on that experience in their mental preparations for Super Bowl XLV. Roethlisberger’s Mental Training, according to Vitchoff, helps him make tremendous plays under pressure, like when he put together a two-minute drive under intense pressure to win Super Bowl XLIII. Vitchoff explains, “Here at the PA Hypnosis Center, we use the same techniques with our gold medalists and other successful performance athletes, as we use with anyone who comes here to lose weight, quit smoking, or reduce stress and anxiety.”
As proof of the power of hypnosis and mental training, Dan Vitchoff, and Catherine Dolgos, a Certified Consulting Hypnotherapist and Fitness and Nutrition Specialist at the PA Hypnosis Center, frequently cite two similar success stories of their clients. Dona W. walked into PA Hypnosis Center with a goal to lose 100 pounds in August of 2008 and now in February, 2011 she is proud to have lost over 96 pounds. She explains, “I feel wonderful, I am a much healthier person now in mind, body and spirit thanks to PA Hypnosis Center.” In her battle with her weight, Dona is a champion.
Using the same type of techniques that helped Dona Webber claim victory, on a very different stage, Vincent Hancock turned to Dan Vitchoff’s Mental Training and Conditioning techniques to help him to quell his typical nervousness and beat out Norway’s Tore Brovold in an intense shoot out for the gold medal during the 2008 Olympic Summer Games, Men’s Skeet competition. Hancock and Brovold, the only two competitors in the world to post perfect scores in international skeet competitions, were tied after the final series. Hancock stayed calm, hitting his targets, while Brovold, sweating profusely, missed his target and wound up settling for the silver medal. Nineteen year old Vincent Hancock, by his own admission tends to be a jittery person and his ability to remain confident and relaxed was a direct result of the Mental Training and Preparations that he did with Dan Vitchoff. Dan Vitchoff explains, “Whether it’s the Super Bowl, the Olympics, or a battle for your life over obesity and health concerns, the stakes are high. Visualization, mental coaching, and hypnosis are the competitive edge and the difference between victory and failure.”
Dan Vitchoff, MS Ed., CHt. Board Certified and Licensed Hypnotherapist, is a highly sought Mental Training and Performance Coach, who works with US Olympic Gold Medalists. Vitchoff’s methods help these elite athletes prepare for the most intense competition in the world and are the same methods and techniques used at his Pittsburgh Hypnosis Center (PA Hypnosis Center) to help clients reach their goals. If you or someone you care about would like to lose weight, stop smoking, reduce stress and anxiety or improve their health and quality of life either personally or professionally, please call 724-934-8446 to schedule a fere consultation and evaluation or visit http://www.pahypnosiscenter.com.

The Film Buffs at Blockbuster.co.uk List their Top Twenty Woody Allen Movies for DVD & Blu-Ray Rental
The Film Buffs at Blockbuster.co.uk List their Top Twenty Woody Allen Movies for DVD & Blu-Ray Rental
(PRWEB) June 8, 2009
To celebrate the release of the hilarious Vicky Cristina Barcelona movie, exclusive to rent at Blockbuster on High Definition Blu-ray and DVD, the film buffs at Blockbuster have selected their top 20 favourite movies from writer, director, star and all-round comic genius Woody Allen.
A prolific filmmaker whose work is so distinctive it’s almost a genre in its own right, Woody Allen had made a movie virtually every year since he began his film making career in the late sixties. “I’m not trying to achieve immortality through my work though,” says the veteran funnyman. “I want to achieve mortality by not dying” a comment which typifies the droll humour which is often a feature of his films.
Over the last few decades, his films have passed through several transitions from the romantic comedies such as “Annie Hall” and “Manhattan” to the self-destructive darkness of “Match Point”. His latest movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” is an instant classic with beautiful cinematography and is well observed and acted.
Unsurprisingly, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” is at the top of Blockbuster’s list and is an exclusive Blu-ray and new DVD release. The list does not just concentrate on his latest films it spans the “ages of Woody Allen” and includes selections dating back from 1971.
Included near the top of the list is The Curse of the Jade Scorpion (2001), a fun light hearted story about an old-fashioned insurance investigator, (Woody Allen) who is hypnotized by a magician (David Ogen Stiers) into stealing jewels he is supposed to protecting. Based in New York during the forties there is much play on the traded insults between the investigator and a highly strung efficiency expert played by Helen Hunt
The well known classics, Oscar winning film Annie Hall (1978) and Manhattan (1979) both feature highly on the list. Diane Keaton starred in both films. Annie Hall is considered to be Woody’s greatest movie and shows him in his most endearingly neurotic state.
Deconstructing Harry (1997) is about a neurotic author (Woody Allen) suffering from writer’s block who reflects on his past and characters from his life, both real and fictional come back to haunt him; caustic, clever with a million funny lines.
In Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993), a middle-aged couple (Woody Allen and Diane Keaton) enliven their relationship when they begin to suspect their next-door neighbour of foul play. This is a modern film-noir, with silliness instead of shadows and genuine affection between the characters.
The tale of a fictional jazz guitarist (Sean Penn), the second best in the world is the theme for Sweet and Lowdown (1999). He confronts gangsters and falls in love with a sweet-natured mute girl (Samantha Morton) who sticks with him despite his many flaws. This film is described as a love letter to jazz from lifetime devotee Allen.
Bullets Over Broadway (1994) is about a struggling playwright (John Cusack) who is forced to make endless artistic compromises after a mobster agrees to produce his work in this sparkling, Twenties-set period comedy. Dianne Wiest won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for playing a grand theatrical ham, but really this is one of those movies where every role’s a gem, and every line’s a corker.
A brilliantly balanced comedy/drama which sees a professor and his wife (Woody Allen and Mia Farrow) re-evaluate their relationship after their best friends (Judy Davis and Sydney Pollack) break up. The ups and downs of love, lust and friendship, explored as only Woody can in Husbands and Wives (1992).
Crimes and Misdemeanours (1989) covers two separate stories, one solemn, one silly, reveal what it means to be human. On the serious side, a man (Martin Landau) considers murdering his mistress, while on the comic, a documentary filmmaker (Woody Allen) falls for a much more suitable woman (Mia Farrow) than his wife. Dramatic, involving and when it needs to be, extremely funny.
A warm, amusing and unashamedly nostalgic look back at the golden age of radio focusing not only on the stars of the day, but also a typical New York family who live their lives with at least one ear glued to the wireless at all times. Radio Days (1987) is the kind of movie that makes you nostalgic for the forties.
Love and Death (1975) set in Tsarist Russia, a cowardly soldier and his distant cousin (Woody Allen and Diane Keaton) hatch a scheme to assassinate Napoleon. The plot and setting take a back seat to Woody’s one-liners, which come thick and fast.
A 20th Century nerd (Woody Allen) wakes up 200 years in the future and falls in love with a woman (Diane Keaton) he hates in this wacky sci fi adventure full of robots, sex toys and giant vegetables. Sleeper (1973) was an early favourite.
Eager to impress a politically-minded girl (Louise Lasser), idiot New Yorker Fielding Mellish (Woody Allen) jets off to a tiny Latin American country and somehow becomes its President. Not much to make you think here, but lots to make you laugh in Bananas (1971).
Other featured movies in clued Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), Broadway Danny Rose (1984), A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy (1982), Stardust Memories (1980) and Everything your Always Wanted to Know about Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask (1972).
All the movies in the list are available for either DVD or Blu-ray rental, online or from the Blockbuster Stores.
Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI and BBI.B) was founded in Dallas, Texas in 1985 and is a leading global provider of in-home rental, retail movie and game entertainment.
In 20 years, Blockbuster has grown from a single video rental store to nearly 9000 company-operated and franchised stores throughout the United States, its territories and 23 other countries.
The first Blockbuster store in the UK opened in March 1989 (Walworth Road, London) and the UK is now the largest Blockbuster business outside the US, with over 700 stores and about 4.2 million member accounts. Blockbuster.co.uk has over 1 million registered members and about 750,000 newsletter subscribers.
Blockbuster’s goal is to be a complete source for movies and games, and the company is continually looking for ways to offer its customers more value, choice and convenience. To this end, in September 2002, Blockbuster UK introduced its online DVD rental service. This service has grown and now allows customers to have access to almost every DVD available in the UK.
Blockbuster.co.uk provides the latest releases and also gives its customers much more choice from classic titles, foreign films, music DVDs, interactive game DVDs, language DVDs and popular TV series. Through its links with the major film studios, Blockbuster also feature exclusive DVD rentals that you cannot rent or buy anywhere else at the time of launch. Past exclusives have included 3.10 to Yuma, The Mist, Saw V and the box office smash Taken.
In 2009, Blockbuster.co.uk launched Online Xtra, a selection of new online rental plans that have the distinction of also including Blockbuster store rentals as part of the same Blockbuster rental package. These new plans are exclusive to Blockbuster, and combine the range and convenience of online rental with the flexibility of being able to pick up rentals in-store whenever members like. With Online Xtra Blockbuster customers can get the best of both the online and offline worlds.

Los Angeles Band, SOCADIA, Celebrates Their “[trees for the forest]” CD Launch with February 24 Event at Downtown L.A.’s “Bordello”
Los Angeles Band, SOCADIA, Celebrates Their “[trees for the forest]” CD Launch with February 24 Event at Downtown L.A.’s “Bordello”
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 19, 2010
On Wednesday, February 24, 2010, Los Angeles-based electronic rock band, Socadia (http://www.socadia.com), will perform at Downtown Los Angeles’ new-kid-on-the-performance-space-block, Bordello, during an evening-long event celebrating the release of their new EP, titled “[trees for the forest]“. Socadia is sharing the stage during the event, with some of Los Angeles’ hottest emerging bands – Echoes de Luxe, Siren’s Eye, FireBug and The Megasoul Connector – creating a sort of one-stop-shop for industry insiders on the prowl.
Socadia (pronounced ‘so-KAY-dee-uh’) is comprised of Austrian-born Stephan Martin (vocals, guitars, synths, programming) and Stockton, California native Dusty Schaller (real drums, programmed drums, synths, editing). Their sound is dark, sexy, electronic rock, with nods to bands like Depeche Mode, She Wants Revenge, and Smashing Pumpkins. The band melds steady, pulsing beats with smooth bass lines, insistent guitars, and layers of synths, led by clear, biting vocals. Their lyrics detail broken relationships; breaking relationships; overcoming; and ultimately, blissfully letting go.
Socadia released their first album, COY, in 2008; the album, which was self-produced, was mixed by Masaki Liu (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club). Following COY’s release, the band enlisted director Andrea Giacomini (Gnarles Barkley, Fatboy Slim) to shoot music videos for the album’s singles “Always Near” and “Land of Peasants.”
“Always Near” won the 2008 SXSW Click video competition, and was a finalist at New York’s HDFest, as well as at Portugal’s ViMus Film Festival, where it sat amongst other finalists such as U2, Blonde Redhead and Green Day. “Land of Peasants” was screened at L.A. FilmFest 2009, alongside videos from Bjork, Depeche Mode, Bloc Party, and more. The album itself, COY, caught the attention of RedBull, and in September of 2008, Socadia was flown to Austria to perform at RedBull Headquarters’ HangART-7.
Socadia spent 2009 recording [trees for the forest], and playing numerous shows in Southern California, including performances at The Knitting Factory, House of Blues, and The Roxy Theatre. The first single from their new album, [trees for the forest], titled “The End of the World”, can currently be heard at: http://www.myspace.com/socadia.
[trees for the forest] is a seven song release of body-moving rhythms and moody, hypnotic melodies. “We recorded and produced everything ourselves,” says Socadia’s frontman, Stephan Martin. “The final product sounds huge, but half the record was done in Dusty’s bedroom.”
The drums were recorded at KingNoise Recorder, the studio owned by Our Lady Peace frontman, Raine Maida. “Raine was so gracious,” says Socadia band member Dusty Schaller, who served as assistant engineer on the latest Our Lady Peace record, “Burn Burn”. “I was looking for a place to track the live drums, and Raine happened to be going out of town for a couple days during the OLP sessions, so he handed me the keys and said ‘knock yourself out’. We spent like 16 hours a day in there, doing the drums, some piano, and playing with his awesome guitar amp collection.”
Socadia brought in longtime friend Matt McJunkins (Puscifer, Ashes Divide) to play bass on some of the [trees for the forest] tracks, and Our Lady Peace guitarist, Steve Mazur, lent a hand on the ballad “Safe and Sound.”
“We’re thrilled to have the support of this extremely talented sector of the Los Angeles music scene”, says Martin, in speaking about the band’s February 24 CD launch event at Bordello, which is being produced in partnership with Soverbia Entertainment (http://www.myspace.com/soverbiaentertainment).
Joining Socadia on February 24 will be indie alternative rockers, Echoes de Luxe, who have the backing and support of one of today’s musical heavy-hitters, Dave Navarro. The band, which is managed by the same firm as Navarro, has had their songs consistently played on Navarro’s L.A.-based radio show, “Dark Matter”, which airs on Indie 103.1. Echoes de Luxe has also performed on-air in the Indie 103.1 studio.
Also in the February 24 lineup, is Los Angeles alterna-indie band Siren’s Eye, fronted by Scott Michael Foster, who can currently be seen starring as “Cappie”, one of the main characters on the ABC Family TV Series “Greek”. Rounding out the February 24 event’s entertainment, are the female-fronted, psychedelic rock band FireBug, as well as rock band, The Megasoul Connector. And as an added bonus for the evening, each person who buys a ticket to see Socadia will receive a free copy of [trees for the forest].
Preceding Socadia’s February 24 CD launch event at Bordello, was their February 17 show at Club Moscow at Boardner’s, during which their video “Land of Peasants” was screened. The February 17 Boardner’s show lineup also included bands Mata Leon, That Noise, and Casio. After Socadia’s February 24 EP release event, they will go on to play a March 14 show at the infamous Sunset Strip live music venue, The Viper Room, also alongside Siren’s Eye, as well as Saturn 5.
Socadia’s music is currently available for download from their web site (http://www.socadia.com), iTunes, as well as other sources. For more information about Socadia, to view upcoming show dates and details, and to listen to samples, please visit: http://www.socadia.com or http://www.myspace.com/socadia.
Requests for further information and booking inquiries can be directed to band member Dusty Schaller, at 209.403.6142.

Thousands Succeed in Overcoming Their Drinking Problem With an Alcohol Recovery Book Many Felt Would Fail
Thousands Succeed in Overcoming Their Drinking Problem With an Alcohol Recovery Book Many Felt Would Fail
ANCHORAGE (PRWEB) March 23, 2006
March 28 marks the one-year anniversary of Roberta Jewell’s stunningly successful “My Way Out”, a self-help book describing an innovative program for problem drinkers—a book that conventional publishers wrote off long before it ever hit the press.
“It’s true,” says, Jewell, whose 153-page text often outranks other books in its genre on Amazon each week. “The first literary agent I pitched it to told me I knew nothing about publishing and less about business. She suggested I consider writing a magazine article instead.”
Jewell jokes that she’s thought about sending the agent her book with a thank you note and a copy of the two Newsweek Magazine pieces in which it’s been featured, along with a clipping from the Wall Street Journal, where it was also mentioned this year.
As far as business goes, the company who now represents her has branded her nutritional products and says sales are doubling every other month. Their research and support website, http://www.mywayout.org, gets nearly 6,000 hits a day and is the highest traffic online support forum of its type. It boasts over half a million page views so far. Finishing touches are now being made on a “My Way Out” infomercial and a new corporate website under development will include a blog with podcasts and interviews featuring addiction researchers, doctors and nutrition experts say company reps.
So why all the buzz when most new authors’ books sit quietly in shrink wrapped storage?
Jewell, who still uses her pen name to protect her family’s privacy, says the problem she suffered for many years is exceedingly pervasive. And it strikes those who are often most reluctant to seek help.
“To be honest, I never wanted to tell anyone about my problem and I certainly never aspired to write a book about it,” she says. “But I felt pretty driven to share this information once I learned more. For instance, there are four problem drinkers for every hard core alcoholic. That is a staggering statistic. And I had become one of those statistics. Here I was, a highly functional problem drinker; an executive, and like a lot of other professionals, I wasn’t comfortable with AA and I didn’t want to go into treatment. But my drinking was draining the life out of me. It was also draining me of my self respect.”
Jewell was recognized by her peers as a proficient researcher and had helped a number of friends and family members over the years with their health problems. Yet she had been incapable of finding a solution to her addiction. She says she had self-experimented for years with several facets of the program she ultimately developed, such as amino acid therapy and herbal remedies. She was also prescribed a medication in the early 90s which was purported to block the desire to drink. But the effects were short lived and it was not the magic bullet she’d hoped.
The catalyst came in two unlikely events which occurred about the same time. A British medical journal published a 2003 study announcing success with a new anti-craving medication. It piqued Jewell’s interest and she raised the topic among friends at a dinner party soon afterwards. It led to a lively conversation about clinical hypnotherapy and its application to addiction. The seed was planted and after follow up research, Jewell added medication and traditional hypnotherapy to the existing program she had now refined, which included specialized nutritional supplements and light exercise. For the first time, a blended therapeutic approach—much like that available to diabetics or coronary heart disease patients—would be applied to addiction.
The program worked. Jewell found herself released from her alcohol craving almost immediately. She quietly began sharing her therapy with others and found they experienced similar results. She quickly broadened her program, partnering with an MD and addiction specialist who now serves as medical director of the My Way Out program. Then came the book. Jewell continues to provide research and online support and works closely in all facets of product development.
As the 12-week program gains popularity, an increasing number of patients have begun approaching their family physicians about it. While optional, many of them wish to incorporate the prescription medication, often Topamax or Campral, and soon the injectable Naltrexone will become available. The program itself is easily administered. The first six weeks involves a specific regimen of nutritional supplements to address withdrawal and craving. A 30 day system of self-hypnosis recordings, done at home, helps with behavior modification. And a light exercise program improves mood and can prevent relapse.
Support—critical to recovery—is strongly endorsed. My Way Out’s web stats bear out the popularity of anonymous online fellowship where, ironically, members share their most private moments about the shame they felt while drinking. Over 10,000 archived messages can be viewed, free of charge, by anyone with web access. They’re posted by both ‘veterans’ and ‘newbies’ alike. Visitors check in regularly from all corners of the globe, issuing calls for help, sobriety status reports or simple messages of camaraderie. The group is fiercely loyal in their support of one another.
Jewell is a bit overwhelmed by it all. “It’s been the most incredible year,” she says. “I never, ever would have imagined it. I only set out to save myself. So to see this response, to know that this has touched a chord with thousands of people is really rather remarkable. I have to say it is the most gratifying feeling. There are just no words for it, really.”
